Double or Nothing is this Sunday, which means prediction time!!! My predictions for AEW Revolution were not half bad, so hopefully, that indicates improvement! Predictions have eluded me for a while! This year’s Double or Nothing should be a great show, so let’s get to the guesses shall we?

AEW International Championship Blackjack Battle Royale

Orange Cassidy has had one of the best championship reigns in AEW history. He is on an impressive 21-0 streak in International Championship defenses. Not to mention the numerous other types of matches he’s been involved in during this timeframe– tags and trios. Sloth style has become workhorse style. He admitted to being “so tired” two weeks ago, which should indicate the sunset on this legendary reign, yes?

Let’s take a look at the other participants in this Battle Royale

  • Butcher
  • Blade
  • Bandido
  • Komander
  • Lee Moriarty
  • Big Bill Morrissey
  • Ari Daivari
  • Tony Nese
  • Chuck Taylor
  • Trent Baretta
  • Kip Sabian
  • Rey Fenix
  • Penta el Zero Miedo
  • Dustin Rhodes
  • Keith Lee
  • Swerve Strickland
  • Brian Cage
  • Juice Robinson
  • Jay White
  • Ricky Starks

That’s a pretty good list! There are some big names in this match and high flyers to make this fun. I still think Cassidy steals it to get one more big win before being destroyed by whoever gets the next shot. One could say, Keith Lee, Swerve, Jay White, or Ricky Starks have a good shot at winning here, but they probably cancel each other out. Their hatred for each other will continue in this match and Orange Cassidy will be able to retain because of it. Cassidy continues his streak of stealing victories one last time.

Winner: Orange Cassidy

Open House Rules Open Challenge

This match is slated to be an open challenge for the AEW Trios Championship, but it’s all but confirmed that the Acclaimed will answer the call. They even told the House of Black they were coming for the titles during Rampage. It’s possible that AEW will swerve for a debuting surprise, but putting The Acclaimed on the PPV seems like a smart idea.

Regardless of who the challengers are, The House of Black will win a fun match to continue this dominant run they’re on. These Open House Rules matches are amazing and need to continue. I love it when a talent has a signature match type.

Winner: House of Black

TNT Championship Ladder Match: Wardlow (c) vs. Christian Cage

Most of the matches on the Double or Nothing card are fairly easy to predict. AEW loves doing the unthinkable, but the majority of these matches should go a specific way. This match (and the next one) are extremely unpredictable.

The TNT Title is in a weird place, yet again. It has flip-flopped more than an inexperienced cook flips a charred hamburger. The Television titles are weird because one changes hands all the time and the other has never done so. Between this and Wardlow being outnumbered in this match, I have a hard time seeing an outcome other than smarmy Christian Cage having his hand raised after all is said and done. Especially now that Cage and Luchasaurus just returned after an absence.

Winner: Christian Cage

TBS Championship: Jade Cargill (c) vs. Taya Valkyrie

And here’s another hard one. Jade Cargill is on an amazing streak in her short AEW career. She’s over 500 days at this point with no end in sight. Thunder Rosa seems to think she’ll never lose, but all things come to an end, right? Is that going to be Taya Valkyrie?

These two have put together a good story about their finishing moves being the same. Taya feels like the first legitimate challenger since Nyla Rose at Full Gear (Nyla should have won!). They should have a good match, but it just doesn’t feel like Jade’s time yet. The reign has gotten stale, yet this title feels like it has nowhere else to be but on Jade’s shoulder right now.

Winner: Jade Cargill

AEW Tag Team Championship: FTR (c) vs. Jeff Jarrett & Jay Lethal (Mark Briscoe special guest referee)

This is another easy one! Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal don’t pose much threat to the AEW Tag Champions, but there is one wild card that might do something crazy — Mark Briscoe. The special guest referee could do shenanigans to help Jay Lethal, one of his best friends, win the tag belts, but there’s probably no way. FTR hasn’t even had a televised defense yet. FTR wins in a match that will surprise those who don’t go to the bathroom.

Winner: FTR

Anarchy in the Arena: The Elite vs. Blackpool Combat Club

And here we have the match I’m looking forward to the most. Anarchy in the Arena from last year’s Double or Nothing was a top 5, maybe even top 3 match of the year contender in 2022. It had that special magic that only top-tier matches achieve. Could this year’s iteration be any better? And who wins the match? Do we even care who wins!?

Kenny Omega, Hangman Adam Page, The Young Bucks, Bryan Danielson, Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, and Wheeler Yuta might be the greatest conglomeration of talent in a single match ever. There’s not a chance in hell that this match is bad! The hard part is predicting who wins.

The Blackpool Combat Club has had the Elite’s number for weeks. What happens now that Hangman Page and the Elite see eye to eye again? One would think that the Elite have to win to pay off that colossal character decision. Kenny, the Bucks, and Hangman Page have swallowed their pride and buried the hatchet. The only way this goes is a triumphant Elite win.

Winner: The Elite

AEW Women’s Championship: Jaime Hayter (c) vs. Toni Storm

Jaime Hayter has had an inconsistent championship reign. There have been some very good matches, but the storyline has been all over the place. Maybe some of it has to do with visa issues or other things behind the screen that we fans don’t know about. It’s truly a shame because the AEW Women’s Champ is fantastic.

And now she is hurt. That’s such a shame! All rumors point to Jaime dropping the title and Toni Storm getting another run as the women’s champ without an interim prefix. Toni was a fantastic champion for her small stint as interim, so giving her a heel run with the title should be great too!

Who knows, maybe AEW will swerve us all and Hayter will retain.

Winner: Toni Storm

Unsanctioned Match: Chris Jericho vs. Adam Cole

It’s 2023 and Sabu is getting his time in the limelight. Better late than never! Imagine going back five years, when Adam Cole was tearing up NXT, and showing wrestling fans this match card. Chris Jericho, Adam Cole, and Sabu being involved in the same match in 2023 is wild.

Regardless of who wins this match, one thing is for certain, it will be a blast. This unsanctioned match will be loaded with shenanigans and carnage. The Jericho Appreciation will surely get involved, Roderick Strong and Sabu will be around, and Britt Baker will probably get some personal revenge too.

All in all, Adam Cole should come out on top here. Technically this match doesn’t count in the eyes of AEW, but it totally counts. Britt Baker and Thunder Rosa’s stock rose tenfold because of their unsanctioned match at St. Patrick’s Day Slam in 2021. Jericho feels like a stepping stone for Cole on his path to bigger things.

Winner: Adam Cole

AEW Championship: MJF (c) vs. Sammy Guevara vs. Jungle Boy Jack Perry vs. Darby Allin

This Pillars storyline has been hit or miss. AEW shot for the moon with this feud, and while it’s commendable that they tried something huge for their young stars, the spotlight felt overwhelming for a couple of them. And that spotlight showed how much the AEW Champion has outgrown the other ‘Pillars.’ Every segment fell flat unless MJF was in it.

All this means is that this outcome will be the easiest to predict. MJF will not lose this match. It should be a very exciting match regardless, but the champ retains.

Winner: MJF
